Saudi Media Measurement Company launched in 2014 as an initiative from the General Commission of Audiovisual Media (GCAM) in Saudi Arabia, backed by a group of media owners, forming the first Joint Industry Committee for audience research (JIC) in Saudi Arabia. (SMMC) is the exclusively official licensed owner and provider for Television Audience Measurement (TAM) in Saudi Arabia.

Based on a market study conducted by an expert consultant, (SMMC) invited multiple organizations specialized in providing Television Audience Measurement (TAM) research around the globe, to bid for the KSA (TAM) project contract.
